Paintings
My paintings explore the theme of transformation through movement and vitality, radiant color, and vibrating pattern. Recent works are devoted to integrating the figurative form with textiles and plant life to convey the interdependency of the human and natural worlds. Other series respond to struggles for equality and human rights, particularly for people of African descent and those who identify as women. My composite imagery and experimental processes take inspiration from art history, African textiles, the natural environment, dance, music, yoga, and mandalas.
